A building storey addition made of a timber construction is incredibly beneficial because there is far less intervention with the existing structure compared to when using a conventional solid construction. This therefore leads to an intelligent logistic that has a significantly reduced impact on the residents of the building. The existing structure often has the potential to increase its building storeys as long as the building material is wood. A timber supporting structure burdens the built structure considerably less than if it were made from a solid construction.
Significant advantages include an efficient production, a very short construction period compared to solid building, as well as better values with respect to energy efficiency. Due to the prefabricated multi-layered wall construction possibilities and the fitted accuracy of CNC controlled machines; timber construction is an ideal building material.
The design shows the great possibilities that a timber construction has with the help of new materials such as beech timber in the transformation of buildings. Due to the excellent material properties of laminated veneer lumber made from beech, new building possibilities are better economically made with better aspects of sustainability. The densification and extension of existing structures provides interesting and important results for the sustainable development of our cities. Existing infrastructure can be used more effectively and new synergies are created.
