Timber has, for a long time now, been a main building component in many of our projects. It is a material that has great potential in terms of its use in new buildings and transformation projects - particularly due to its long life cycle. The great potential of timber building materials is often underestimated.
It is a renewable building material that, aside from its vertical load bearing capabilities, can be used to build complex spatial forms. By using timber, models and building structures, in combination with light and shade, have a natural appearing surface that is aesthetically very pleasing.
We use laminated veneer lumber as the main construction material in many of our current projects. The high performance of this material in hybrid construction is emphasized in many research projects.
The projects benefit from production-related potential to time optimization: large building components can be delivered just in time and put together right away. These advantages have a great impact, especially in the expansion and transformation of existing buildings, because of its short assembly time and it allows regular operation to continue during the assembly.
